2023 MALBEC “The Romantic Cowboy” ..................$20 /5 oz. g, $59/b
Estate Grown and the only Malbec in PEC. People thought we were crazy to plant it but Malbec is originally a cool climate varietal made famous in the Cahors region of France. Charred strawberry, white pepper and violets on the nose with fresh cut cedar, toasted oak and smoke. The mouth feel has a balanced texture of plum, crunchy black cherry, blackberry with creamy vanilla, liquorice and tobacco. Soft, fine, grippy tannins lead to a smooth, long cocoa finish.

LITTLE BUG RED The “Naughty Kitty ” ............................
Just like our mascot cat being a blend of complex DNA as a Chimera, this wine is a county bargain crafted by our heros Derek Barnett and Spencer Mayer to bring out the best of French-American hybrid Lucie Kuhlmann, 2021 Malbec and property-grown 2022 Frontenac Noir. and Petit Verdot. Violet florals, raspberry and wild strawberry with savoury notes of vanilla, toasted

Carménère—to enhance wine complexity. In 2015, celebrated Executive Winemaker Derek Barnett joined Karlo Estates to continue this legacy.
In 1863, the phylloxera plague nearly caused the extinction of the Bordeaux grape Carménère, then known as Grande Vidure. It was rediscovered in Chile in 1994, having been mistaken for Merlot since its 1849 planting.
The late Richard Karlo, who passed away on November 26, 2014, envisioned reuniting all six original First Growth Bordeaux varieties—Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and
Carménère—to enhance wine complexity. In 2015, celebrated Executive Winemaker Derek Barnett joined Karlo Estates to continue this legacy.
Karlo Estates fulfilled Richard’s dream with the 2018 vintage, producing 1,200 bottles of Sextus—the first time these six noble grapes were assembled in one bottle in over 150 years. Following the sold-out 2020 release, this third vintage is a spectacular success. While limited to just four barrels (1,200 bottles), it represents the pinnacle of quality. Purchase includes Club Sextus membership.
