Between Christmas and New Years is the perfect time to play the Scrooge Game. This is a family tradition we’d like to share with the world. Bring a wrapped gift, unaddressed, wrapped gift. This gift can be new, gently used or regifted. The gift should be unisex and worth about $10. Once all guests have arrived and settled in, we’ll start the game. Participants will draw a number out of a top hat and in sequential order, will be invited to open a gift or steal a gift that has already been opened. All rules will be revealed at the beginning of the game.

This is a great way to regift something you got over the holidays so someone who can use it will get to enjoy it. It’s also a fun way to blow off some steam during the holidays as it’s the exact opposite of the Christmas spirit, in a fun, lighthearted way.

Chris Gostling plays the Speakeasy

Chris Gostling plays the Speakeasy

Chris Gostling has been storytelling through songs for nearly 30 years. A multi-instrumentalist based in Eastern Ontario, his singer / songwriter’s style pays homage to folk, roots-rock and Americana veins while remaining a unique sonic offering.

On October 4th, Gostling released his sophomore full length album, "Forest City Town Country”. Recorded on Wolfe Island in Kingston, with the musical support of Hugh Christopher Brown, Jason Mercer, Liam Cole and Craig “Rocky” Roberts, the album sonically crosses genres from indie-folk through alt-country soulfulness and beyond.

"Forest City Town Country" is an evolution of Chris’ songwriting, and storytelling. He writes about experience, either personal or from witnessing other people's lives. From overheard tales through the thin walls in apartment buildings, to a reflection on a last family vacation as a kid, to the concept of enduring grief and the seasons that we seem to feel it the most, these songs start as catharsis and become a shared experience when played for others.

Doors open at 4:30 PM so you can get a good seat and your orders in. Show starts at 5:00 PM and we close at 9 PM.

Enjoy live music while imbibing with wine by the glass, plant-based cheese and charcuterie and other delicious wine bar snacks and good eats. Reserve with a $10 deposit that goes towards Karlo classic food pairings for you and your guests like a handful of chips, a table spoon of nuts, wasabi peas, a sampling of plant-based cheese and charcuterie, seasonal fruit and chocolate.

John Prine, No Tears

**There are Two Kinds of People**

In a world divided between those who adore John Prine and those yet to discover his genius, we invite you to join us for a night of heartfelt tributes to this iconic songwriter.

John Prine was more than a musician; he was a storyteller who painted vivid portraits of everyday lives with his clever wordplay and compassionate insights. His songs were a blend of whimsy and poignant commentary, illuminating the overlooked and marginalized, reminding us of the beauty in the mundane.

As we gather on Saturday, August 3, let’s celebrate the legacy of John Prine with a lineup of talented performers who will each bring their unique flair to his unforgettable music.

Join us for an evening filled with good vibes, accompanied by award winning wine and delicious bites from Dee’s Quiet Café, all set in the rustically charming ambiance of the barnyard.

From Mark Despault, whose journey began in the '70s, to Rick Zimmerman, who first encountered Prine’s magic in a college dorm, each artist has a story to tell about the profound impact John had on their lives and music.

Greg Hinde, a lifelong musician, reflects on Prine’s unmatched ability to capture the essence of humanity in his songs. Our Master of Ceremonies, Randy Stewart, brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective on the songs that shaped our hearts.

Come, immerse yourself in the spirit of John Prine, where every note echoes the stories of ordinary people and extraordinary truths. Let’s honor the man who paved the way for so many, proving that music is a universal language that connects us all.
